This morning, Kyle was playing with some color rings.  He took one and said to me "Blue'. That's nothing new. He knows colors for a long time already.  But after 2 seconds, he said "Blau', then he said Papa.  Then i asked him about the yellow ring. He told me yellow. I asked 'Papa says', and he said 'Gelb'. Then 'Mama says', he answered "yellow".  Wow! He really knows there are 2 languages spoken in the house!

I woke up this morning with perfect eyesight. What a great invention!  Just have to be more careful with the eyes in the next couple of weeks.

 

Kyle keeps adding new vocabulary. He can even say Germany. I ask: Where is Nine, where is Lasse..., he will say"Germany". I ask: Kyle was born in....he will say "America". Of course not the perfect pronounciation, but close enough.  He also says "Hermann" and "Corinne'.  He knows Alexander's papa is "Martin" (he says "Marter) and Alexander's mama is "Melanie" (he says Menie).

 

What surprises me today is he says right and left when he points to his feet. Elizabeth told me she taught him this morning when putting his shoes on.  Just read that a 20month old learns 10 new words a day.  Children are really amazing.

 

Oh, one more thing. He can name his toy cars: mitsubishi (he says bishibishi), porsche, BMW, Audi, Mini, Mercedes, Beetles. This is really crazy.

In 2 hours, I am getting my eyes done with lasik.  I am very looking forward to it. Then I can trash my glasses, contact lens, solutions and cases! Hurray!

 

Just read Ann's blog talking about Joey's recognizing alphabets.  Well I also have to boast about my precious Kyle. He knows 1 - 10, A - F, K, L, S, M, N and Y.  Hehe, I didn't really force him to learn, he likes to sit down with me and asks me to write the letters. His favorite one is B. I guess I have written 200 times in one day.

 

 

Hermann was off early yesterday and the whole family drove to Shek O beach in the afternoon. 

 

The beach was totally crowded.  People didn't have to work??? Kyle was enjoying the beach so much. He ran naked into the water and he was crazy about the waves, no fear at all.  He also loved to play with the sand, well, he loved to eat sand, to be exact.  We even saw a rainbow!! Too bad I didn't bring camera.

 

What  a perfect afternoon!

 

We slept only for a few hours last nite. We were so exhausted today but it's all worth it. Almost got a heart attack when i watched the Germany vs. Argentina game in a bar with my best friends and Hermann's friends.  Lehmann finally proved that why he was chosen in the team!  We had a lot of fun, cheering, drinking, yelling, shouting, singing, laughing.   Ended up going at home at 2.30am.

 

Argentina sucked! Look at their hair! Disgusting. Ugly long hair and hair bands should be banned from world cup.

 

Now can't wait to watch the next match on Tuesday. Probably need 2 alarm clocks to wake us up at 3am.   I'm sure they'll beat Italy and go to the final! Go! Go! Go!

 

But Ann, though I didn't sleep enough, I went to the gym for a body pump class today!

 

 

Kyle learnt to say 'pretty', that is so cute.  I say to him "Mama is" and he will then say "pretty". Hehe....my mom visited us yesterday and when she saw I taught Kyle to say this, she thinks I am crazy.

 

He also said 'nice'!  But I am very sure he doesn't know the meaning of these 2 words.

 

The best, however, is he points to himself and says "Baby....Kyle".

Trying to count how many words Kyle can say now:

 

Papa, mama, Kyle (sounds like car), car, bus, milk, juice, door, ball, circle (sounds like corkco), star, tractor, please, gone, cup, NO, yes, straw, lemon, daniel, noodles, turtle, fish, dog, bird, bugs, panda (only a few times), eyes, clock (hehe, sounds like cock), up, down (sounds like damn), money (sounds like mimi), shoes, bag, mum mum (for food), bye-bye, night night, sit,press, go, come, O (for open), po po (his butt), blue, no more, o-oh, card, flower (wa wa), heart, stop (sounds like dop)....

 

'Come' is one of the latest. So cute that he likes to grab my hand and pull and say 'come'. Just love it.  When he goes to bed at night, he will hold my hand and Hermann's hand and say 'come'.

 

The most annoying is he will say 'go go go go' non stop whenever we are in the car and he sees the traffic lights. We taught him 'red means stop, green mean go' and now every time he sees anything green, he says go go go.

 

 

I took the afternoon off yesterday to take Kyle to the playgroup. It was his first class in this kindergarten and I plan to let him 'study' there until he goes to the proper kindergarten.  Right now, it's 2 days a week and I will enrol him into 3 day week in September.

 

Again, he is the youngest among 12 kids. Most of them are around 2 years old.  I am sure he will learn a lot. There is circle time, work cycle, snack time, outdoor play, art/craft time, story time and singing and dancing, in 1 hr 45 min. They teach a lot of discpline, e.g. say please, wash hands before eating, when the teacher is serving the biscuits, he has to put his hands on the laps and wait until everyone is served.  He has to put away toys/plates/cups....

 

There is one ritual at the beginning of the class. Every kid has to walk to the teacher, shakes her hand and say ' good afternoon Miss Maryann', then pick his own photo and put in a post box. Kyle of course didn't know what to do, but after class yesterday, I practised with him and now, he likes to come up to me and shake my hand and wait for me to say 'good afternoon miss maryann'. Sooooooooooo cute.  

 

Too bad I can't go with him anymore as I have to work. But I'm sure Elizabeth will also take good care of him.

 

And he knows how to say 'gone' and gesture with open hands.  When i ask where Joey is? he says 'gone' with open hands. Where is daniel? 'gone' he says.  Super super cute.

 

And most importantly, he knows how to kiss me and Hermann. Finally, after 17.5 months! 

 

I bought a baby toilet seat to be put on our toilet.  He loves it. He sits there for mroe than 5 mins and smiling and laughing (I will post the pictures later), then he gets to flush and wash hands.  He has not peed or pooed in the toilets yet though.  But this seat is much better than the potty chair I bought earlier, which he just thinks is a toy which he can carry around.

A lot of happenings this week!!!

 

Although I got nothing from baby Kyle for Mother's Day, we did have great fun.  Went to the Shek O beach early in the morning and he had a blast!  He likes the water so much and was fearless running towards the waves. And the end he was running totally naked on the beach.  Is there a better word than 'cute'???  We went to a BBQ party in the afternoon after his swimming class and met tons of kids.  A lot of action for Mother's Day.

 

Kyle is 17 months old since yesterday, my little boy has grown!  He is talking a lot, like Papa, but no one understands what he is saying. Elizabeth and I both think that is german, 'coz we have no idea.  He keeps amazing us every day. 

 

And we are 3 years married tomorrow! Time flies and I hope one day, I will wake up and say ' we are 30 years marreid tomorrow!'.

Hermann is in Germany.  Kyle misses him so much. He is looking for Papa all the time.

 

- whenever he hears the elevators, he turns to the door and says "Papa" and waits to see if the door opens.

 

- this morning, after he woke up, he went to our bedroom and opened the door, saying "Papa, papa", hoping to see Hermann in our bed. He looked so disappointed seeing the bed was empty. But he was very happy in 5 seconds when he took out the bag of coins from the bed side table. Silly boy.

Just extended my part time contract to a couple of months more. Yipee!  It is really the best arrangement. Now I can spend more time with Kyle until later!  The perfect world would be I go full time when he goes to kindergarten. 

 

He started something new again yesterday.  He knows how to 'spin'. When i say turn, he keeps turning until he falls down, so cute. I was scared that he will spin too much and feel dizzy, so i said 'stop', haha...he did stop!

 

And i signed him up for a swimming class. Every sunday afternoon, he goes swimming with Hermann. We had the first lesson last Sunday, he enjoyed it so much except the last 5 minutes.

 

Call me crazy mom, but I also sign him up for a toddler soccer class. Hehe.  So weekly, he has so many activities planned!  Kindyroo (gym-type playgroup), soccer, swimming, rumpus rooms and meeting his toddler friends.  I think I'm very spoiled to be able to afford all these classes. How lucky we are nowadays.  I had nothing like these when i grew up.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Not sure what is wrong with Kyle today.  He stuck on me THE WHOLE DAY!  For the past almost 16months, he never wanted me so much.  Since this morning he woke up, he only wanted to be on my arm. I couldn't put him down!  Where has my independent baby gone? And this is the first day ever he has not really eaten anything. For lunch, he had 4 spoonfuls of food. For dinner, he had 10 cheerios and 2 mini chicken nuggets.  I am beat now.

It is a holiday today here, the Ching Ming Festival.  We had a super nice day. Kyle took 2 naps!  What a surprise. At 10am, he walked to his bed and wanted to sleep.  Then he napped again after playing in the playground.  In the late afternoon, we invited 3 other boys and the parents to come over for a coffee. Hermann baked a cake.  Yummy.  But our apartment was a total mess after 15 minutes.  Toys EVERYWHERE! All kids had real fun. And Kyle behaved so well!  I'm sure he has recovered and that's why he is so sweet.

Today is the first day that Kyle was alone with our new full time helper, Elizabeth. I was quite worried when I left home for work this morning, because he seemed to be not bonding with her yet and he didn't quite let her carry him yesterday.  And when i said bye-bye this morning, he was hugging my legs!  So heart breaking.

 

But he managed.  I went home from work and he was a happy cutie.  He seemed to grow up so much today.  I taught him what a bird does: FLY FLY FLY and I flapped my arms like a bird.  He now learns and will wave his both arms when I ask " what do birds do"!!  Super funny. And he took all his story books to me and asked me to read to him.  He loves 'baa baa black sheep' so much that I have to repeat it 25 times.

 

He also knows where his big belly is. He pulls his shirt up and looks down and pats his belly/poke his belly button.  Tomorrow is holiday so we can spend the whole day with him.  Can't wait.

We had one of the worst night yesterday.  Kyle was up from 1.40am to 5am. Fussing and crying, inconsolable.  We heard him coughing and probably he could not breathe so well.  At 5am, we decided to take him to a 24hr clinic to check him up because there was nothing we could do to stop him from crying.  Once we were in the car and drove for about 5min, he fell asleep!  So we thought we just turned back home and hoped he would continue to sleep in his bed. He woke up when we took him out of the car seat. Argggggggggggggggggggggh.  He finally slept a bit from 6am to 7am.  I was like a zombie today and I had to go to work.  Very tough day.

 

Anna took him to the ped. during lunch time and I talked on the phone with the doctor.  Kyle is having some infection in the respiratory tract, (well, just a cold, I guess) and got some medicine. He napped two hours in the morning and hopefully he can nap more in the afternoon (I'm right now in the office taking a break, 'coz I can't focus on the spreadsheet thing anymore!).

 

Maybe it's a price to pay that Hermann and I have been going out so much these few days in the evenings, since our new helper has come.

 

She came on Sat and we already went to Ikea for a relaxing shopping after Kyle went to bed.

 

On Monday we went out for a nice dinner to celebrate my birthday. Thank you Hermann. But we were so tired after dinner with one glass of wine. 

 

Last night, I went out with Evelyn for yummy hot pot and Hermann went out for drinks with a friend.

 

Hmmmmm, maybe Kyle is jealous that we are having so much fun without him!

 

I took Kyle for his MMR and chicken pox vaccination today.  He was a brave little boy, only cried for a few seconds.  He is now 12.5kg and 81.3cm.  His weight is 0.4kg above the chart (I'm sure it's an asian baby's growth chart).  I asked the doctor if he eats too much, but it seems like he is doing alright. The ped. says 6-8 oz x 3 times a day is fine. But many people think he's almost 2 years old since he is big.

 

At the moment, he is extremely easy going and is happy at the time. He smiles and laughs so much.  And he runs around like a crazy man.

 

I finally bought him a potty. But i think he is not ready. He thinks it is a toy and he climbs into it, pushes it around and refuses to sit on it.  I should put it away for a while.

 

Haven't updated for a while. 

 

Kyle is already 14 months old. 12.5kg and still 79cm tall. When is he going to grow taller?  Now somedays he is only taking one nap.  Those are long days as I sometimes have no idea what to entertain him. When he is bored, he is very clingy and grumpy.  Only pulling my legs wanting to be picked up and then wanting to be put down.  He has not any problems if we go to other people's places. He will be happily playing by himself.  He still doesn't speak much....he says 'ca ca' to everything.  He sometimes says bye and waves his hands.

 

Work is still ok in the office. So many rumors going on what the future will be after a few important staff have resigned. I am also very eager to know if there are offering me something different. Still have to wait until the HQ big shot guys come next week to announce.

 

Hermann will be away to Shanghai for a few days....too bad we can't go together. Hehe..my china visa has expired. can't even go to Shenzhen. Have to renew it soon.  But when do I have time?

 

 

Yeah, we are going to Koh Samui tomorrow!!!  The weather forecast says there are thunderstorms.  Hope we can still enjoy the nice resorts.
